If you purchased an item made of solid sterling silver, please remember that over time, it may change color. Tarnish is an oxidisation of silver jewelry, that usually displays as a dull, grey, or black film coating over the jewelry.

There is no way to completely protect your silver jewelry from tarnishing because silver reacts with so many different components found in our everyday life, in foods, fluids (tap water!), cosmetics and even clothing. For instance, tarnishing can be accelerated by any chlorine-containing item, acidic components or perfume and hairspray.

Wearing silver jewelry leaves oils from your skin to accumulate on the surface of the jewelry and can predispose it to oxidisation. Even the relatively mild chemicals in our sweat will accelerate the oxidisation, especially when supported by warmth and air.

The best way to deal with tarnish is slow the rate in which it develops.

Wipe down your silver jewelry after use, as it slows down the process. Avoid wearing silver jewelry when showering, washing hands, taking a bath, going to sauna or a swimming pool. Avoid contact with wool, rubber, and latex items. Store it in the jewelry box provided.

There are many silver cleaning and polishing agents available. Some silver polishers even contain a tarnish-preventing agent.

Keep your silver jewelry clean and sparkling with a polishing cloth, give it a dip bath or use silver polish.

There are also many home remedies, involving aluminium foil, baking soda, toothpaste and other solutions.

Silk is one of the most durable natural fabrics. Despite its delicacy, with proper care, it will keep it's sheer and brightness for many years.

Please wash your scarf by hand in cold water, using shampoo. Like our hair, silk is a protein fiber, so whatever is good for your hair, will help to keep silk's shine and moisture. Alternatively, you can use a silk-friendly detergent.

Swish the scarf gently for a couple of minutes and then rinse thoroughly with fresh water. Lay it flat on a towel and roll it in to remove moisture. Air dry. When completely dry, iron the scarf on the low temperature "silk" level. Use a cloth between the scarf and the iron for extra protection.

If you purchased our square scarf, please note that ironing silk twill scarves can make them a little stiff. But the more you wear them, the softer and more lustrous they become.
